Love the retro vibe! So authentic right down to the corn cob shaped butter. We had fish and chips. The Lemon fish was so delicious! Looking forward to coming back to Best Cafe when we visit Dunedin again and see what you discovered above that low ceiling 🥸
We popped in without a booking but the new owners of just 5 weeks happily found a table for us. And good timing as it got very busy being a Saturday night! The fish (Blue Cod) and chips were super fresh and delicious! As was the grilled mussels I had after the main instead of a dessert. My wife had the banana split which she also enjoyed! We heard customers around us were super happy with their meals too. People will not be disappointed if you came here. Good luck to the new owners.
Had lunch today at the " Best Cafe" in Dunedin. Visiting my old home town. Left Dunedin in 1986 and never went there, should have. Anyways, one of the best fish and chips ever - Lemon Sole. Going back Thursday for the Blue Cod. And an Emersons or two.Great staff.
Best fish and chips I’ve had in a while (as a New Zealander), really recommend the blue cod and bluff oysters!! Lovely staff as well. Would recommend to anyone down in Dunedin
Absolutely amazing service and food. The oysters were cooked perfectly and the seafood chowder was so delicious. Cool retro vibe, like cafes used to be in the good old days! Could not fault the service and meals were on the table super quick. We will definitely be making this one of our regular stops.
