just left this hunting and fishing — me and my girlfriend are both brand new to fishing and we just had the BEST help and the BEST time — we didn’t catch the name of the man who served us but he had a ball cap and a beard and seemed like the manager —he got us all sorted with everything we need and treated us so well ! we didn’t feel like there were any silly questions to ask and he taught us some basic skills like knots and how to
get our rod all set up — truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience !! 10/10 recommend :)

We bought a shimano xitus pro 7' 2 piece 3-5kg rod for our 12 year old son. It broke in half catching its 3rd fish, less than a year old. We were using (1.8kg) fishing line, and the rod broke before the line did. We believe that given it failed so quickly, and we'll less than the rod rating, it was likely due to a manufacturing fault. The store rejected this, and said we must have been using the rod on the wrong angle, which we were not. They have a rod angle chart diagram on hand, and it wouldn't surprise me if they reject all rod warranty claims.
Very disappointed they did not honor a valid warranty claim, in breech of the fair trading act

Henry in the fishing department is amazing - knew heaps about all the fishing spots in the South Island, very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about required gear. Ka pai.
