My sister does not normally leave online reviews but was moved to beg be to do so on this occasion, she says, because the food was so good. What follows is her review.
It started when the other dishes arrived and I could smell how good it was. And when my food arrived, I don't usually care for side salads but the mayonnaise was sooo good it was worthwhile. I even stopped putting tomato sauce on my sausage roll because it was already so well made with balanced flavours that the tomato sauce had no further role to play. The toilets were also clean and charming. Thank you!

I can give no higher review than to show my empty plates. I enjoyed every morsel. The flower gardens are quite beautiful as well.

I made a detour when driving from Dunedin to Queenstown to visit this country cafe and wasn't disappointed: simple and tasty and in a valley with stunning views and more locals than tourists. Coffee was the smoothest of my 12 day trip around the South Island visiting 24+ cafes – most others seemed to make a point of burning their coffee, so Kissing Gate is worth the drive!
