We had lunch at this café, which was clearly popular. The only drawback was the shared seating—tables were communal. It also took a bit long for the food. We had a seafood chowder, the soup of the day (onion), a bagel with halloumi, and a bagel with salmon. Overall, tasty! Just note that parking is tough since it’s in the CBD—most spots are 1-hour only and hard to find.

A favourite place for Sunday breakfast. The service is very good and quick. My usual order is The One... it's a full breakfast. I just love the Hash browns! Located in Lower Octagon, it's a popular spot for locals and visitors, especially in the weekend. Do come and try this place if you are in Dunedin and would like to have breakfast in the centre of Dunedin. It's highly recommended!

Lovely place to grab a coffee and a toasted sandwich. Great range of cabinet food as well as a solid variety of choices off the menu.
Friendly staff, and clean toilets!

Warm welcoming café with absolutely delicious food
We had chilli mince on ciabatta toast (could of had a bit more chilli) but it was great.
5 stars we would definitely come again

It was a rainy April morning, and Dunedin was wrapped in one of its signature mists. A perfect day to seek comfort and breakfast at The Percs turned out to be just that.
The place offers a cozy, welcoming vibe, ideal for easing into the day. I went with “The One”—a hearty plate featuring toasted ciabatta, hashbrowns, grilled tomatoes, and a perfectly poached egg, topped with a tangy barbecue sauce. Simple, satisfying, and well put together.
The menu has plenty of other tempting options too: a delightful frittata, various styles of toast served with eggs or bacon, rich chowder soups, and a selection of freshly baked pastries.
And of course—the coffee. A real highlight. The Percs serves a thoughtful selection of beans, with brews that are both flavorful and smooth. Whether you’re into a bold espresso or something more mellow, the quality shines through.
Overall, it’s an easy 5 out of 5. The food is genuinely enjoyable—especially the frittata and chowder. The coffee adds that extra touch. Service is warm and attentive, and the ambiance fits perfectly with a misty Dunedin morning. Visitors will likely enjoy the atmosphere just as much as the breakfast.
